Crowdfunding is coming. First, we want to give you a reason to care.
For quite a while, THE 13 has existed mostly behind closed doors.
Writing.
Designing.
Building.
Rewriting.
Arguing.
Occasionally arguing about the rewriting.
Now we’re preparing to put it in front of the world.
The graphic novel is taking shape. Caleb is becoming real. Our Los Angeles Comic Con experience is being built. The black box is coming.
And soon, we’ll launch a crowdfunding campaign to help push THE 13 into its next stage.
Yes, eventually we are going to ask you for money. But first, we’d rather give you a reason to care.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce more of Caleb’s world. We’ll begin revealing the thirteen environments behind THE 13. We’ll introduce the organizations whose work we intend to support. We’ll show pieces of the creative process. We’ll take you behind the construction of our Comic-Con experience.
And we’ll explain why we believe storytelling and art can do something traditional advocacy often struggles to do:
Get people to look again.
Not necessarily agree. Not necessarily behave. Not necessarily join anything. Just look again.
Because sometimes changing the frame changes the conversation.
Our crowdfunding campaign will help us finish and expand the graphic novel, develop the larger world surrounding THE 13 and put this experiment in front of considerably more people.
We’ll explain exactly where the money goes before we ask anyone to contribute.
For now, the invitation is simpler.
Follow along.
Tell someone.
Question us.
Come see the black box.
Meet Caleb.
And if all of this strikes you as slightly strange? Good.
We’re just getting started.
